We have the plane tickets. We have the SPWF (Steampunk World’s Fair) tickets. We are going to New Jersey baby!
In May, my best friend and I will be meeting up with my family at the Steampunk World’s Fair. Here the five of us converge on one place at one time. Watch out for goggles, time travel, robots, parasols, and so much awesomeness I’m vibrating with excitement and giddy for the endless possibilities.
On our list of things to do while in good old NJ:
- Eat White Castle cheeseburgers at least one meal each day
- Eat at the Golden Coral Diner which is just down the road and has the best pickles and coleslaw in the entire world
- Eat Dunkin Donuts because Reno just doesn’t have any
- Eat pizza. NJ isn’t as good as NY pizza, but its not a bad second place.
- Drink absinth
- Drink more absinth
…so far everything has to do with food and drink.
- Buy a new corset
- Hit people with sticks (No really. I hope they have Bartitsu classes again this year.)
- Go to every author’s lecture and make them sign books and talk to them about writing
- Wear lots of feathers (I will wear my (currently in process) Steampunk Witchdoctor costume)

Wow I am so jealous that trip sounds amazing! I always love it when you post pictures, the costume looks unreal
Hope you have a great time!
Thank you thank you! This comment totally made my day! Mostly I just post silly little doodles and am always surprised when anyone likes them. Hopefully the costume actually comes out like the drawing.
I really hope it does!! You must be really talented to be able to create something as cool as that!
Oh my gosh! I just found out about steampunk like two years ago, but I totally have to make it to the steampunk worlds fair one of these years.
I also want to go to a sci-fi convention, a Star Trek convention, and several writers conventions.
Dude, I’ve got to start making some serious money really soon!
Last year steampunk worlds fair was one of the most fun experiences of my life. Seriously loved it. I’m crying a little on the inside after purchasing the plane tickets (600), hotel room (150), and convention tickets (200.) There are a few bills that haven’t been paid to accommodate… but still worth it in my opinion. lol!
Have fun. Jeff Mach’s events are always a blast. Wish I could make it.
I’ve only been to SPWF last year and can’t really make his other events because we are based on opposite sides of the country. What events have you been to? I hear they are all great.
Made it to Wicked Faire once, and I have friends who used to regularly volunteer to help out there. Used to live in Jersey/East PA, so his stuff was fairly well known among the geeks I ran with.
